The tale of the tape
A cap looks simple until you count the parts. Here’s what each one does, so you know exactly what you’re getting.
- Crown
- The body of the hat. A structured crown stands up on its own; an unstructured one relaxes.
- Panels
- Usually six, sewn together and meeting at a point on top.
- Button
- The cloth-covered button where the panels meet.
- Eyelets
- Small stitched vents that let your head breathe.
- Front
- Where the embroidery or patch lives.
- Brim
- Flat or pre-curved. Rows of stitching keep it stiff.
- Undervisor
- The underside of the brim, often in a contrast colour.
- Sweatband
- The inner band that sits against your forehead.
- Closure
- Snap, strap or buckle at the back. Fitteds have none.

The weigh-in
Every champion makes weight. Find your fit before the bell.
- Wrap it. Run a soft tape measure around your head, about 1/8 inch (3 mm) above your eyebrows and ears. No tape? Use a string, then lay it along a ruler.
- Keep it snug. Firm, not tight. That number is your head size.
- Match it. Slide the tape to your number to find your fitted size. Between sizes, go up one.

Who’s under the mask?
In lucha libre, the mask is sacred. Luchadores guard their identities for whole careers, and losing the mask in the ring is the worst defeat there is.
El Pudro takes his hats just as seriously. Nobody’s quite sure who’s under the mask. Everybody knows the hats.
Stars and stripes on top, an eagle across the brow: the bird on Mexico’s flag and on America’s Great Seal. Two traditions, one mask. The Palace is where El Pudro keeps his crowns, and now they’re yours.

How do I find my size?
Measure around your head about 1/8 inch above your eyebrows and ears, then slide the weigh-in tape to that number. Between two sizes, go up one. Adjustable hats fit most heads.
What’s the difference between fitted, snapback and strapback?
A fitted hat comes in an exact size and has no closure at the back. A snapback adjusts with plastic snaps; a strapback adjusts with a fabric or leather strap and a buckle.
How does shipping work?
Every order ships to your door, and your tracking number comes by email. Need a hat by a certain date? Call or text before you order and El Pudro will tell you straight whether it can make it.
What if my hat doesn’t fit?
Get in touch with your order details and the size you need, and El Pudro will sort out a swap. Keep the hat unworn with its tags on until it’s settled.
How do I take care of my hat?
Spot-clean with cold water and a little mild soap. Skip the washing machine and the dryer, and let it air-dry over something round, like a rolled towel, so the crown keeps its shape.
Can you do a group or custom order?
Ask. Call, text or email with what you have in mind and how many hats you need, and El Pudro will tell you what’s possible.
Can I pick up a hat in person?
The Palace is online, so there’s no storefront to visit. Every hat ships straight to you.
