Nobody’s quite sure. Everybody knows the hats. This is the story of El Pudro, his mask and the Palace where he keeps his crowns.

In lucha libre, a mask isn’t a costume. Luchadores guard their identities for entire careers, and the highest-stakes match there is, máscara contra máscara, ends with the loser unmasking in front of the crowd.
El Pudro takes his hats just as seriously. A crown should say who you are before you open your mouth, whether you fight clean or break every rule in the book.
So the Palace keeps it simple: bold hats, named for the moves and the matches, in the colours of one very particular mask.

The real thing, stitched and shining. Almost every hat in the Palace borrows something from it.

Two traditions, one eagle
Stars and stripes on top, an eagle across the brow. The eagle sits at the centre of Mexico’s flag and on America’s Great Seal, and on El Pudro’s mask it holds the two together.
